SUMMARY:Youthful Cities Summit
DESCRIPTION:The future of urban work needs youth.\n\n\nThe landscape of work is quickly changing across Canada and young Canadians are at the apex. Technological\, environmental and social change has thought leaders and think tanks around the world putting in overtime trying to figure out what is in store and how societies and organizations must act and react to work. But with all that focus\, two critical forces in our quest to understand the future of work are underrepresented – Youth and Urbanization. \nYouthfulcities launched the first Urban Work Index\, measuring 21 cities across Canada on their current capacities of urban work from a youth perspective. The index uses an expansive\, youth-driven definition for work that includes four thematic areas: Education\, Entrepreneurship\, Affordability and Employment. The Index was a call for cities to seriously consider how to map out the future of work for youth. \nThe Future of Work Summit will be a one-of-a-kind experience for 60 young leaders across various Canadian cities and work industries to come together and collaborate on a vision on what the future of work can be. It will be a unique opportunity to amplify the youth voice on the future of work. \n\n\n\nAs a delegate\, you will have the opportunity to connect with a network of 60 young leaders across Canada that will share the future of work through an immersive experience\, blending city learning in our host city with a unique innovation process\, allowing you to make real input on the future of work. Delegates will arrive to Edmonton on October 16\, with opportunities to network with other city builders and engage in the city. On the first full day\, delegates will have the opportunity to learn and unpack current understandings of the future of work\, such as automation and technology disruptions\, with thought leaders in the space. Delegates will then co-design future scenarios of urban work with a youth perspective\, through a design jam. On the last full day\, delegates will work to push these innovate ideas into tangible recommendations and activations for cities across Canada that can serve as the roadmap to the future of work. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s Included as a Delegate: \n\n\nNo cost participation in the Future of Work Summit\, with unique access to thought leaders and networks \n\n\nFlights to Edmonton\, for those living outside the city \n\n\nShared accommodation provided at our Summit location\, Crash Hotel \n\n\nFree meals (and good coffee) for the summit duration \n\n\nEligibility: \n\n\nMust be between the ages of 18 – 29 \n\n\nReside in a Canadian City \n\n\nAvailable to attend an immersive programme from Oct 16 – 20\, which will include evening programming. \n\n\nBe able to participate in pre-summit virtual sessions and knowledge building \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBecome a delegate.\n\n\nWe are currently accepting applications from Summit Sponsors only. \n\nApply now\n\nMeet the delegates.\n\n\nMeet our amazing cohort of delegates that are already part of the Future of Urban Work Summit \n\nCurrent Delegates

Please contact info@albertablockchain.com if you would like to host an event during Alberta Blockchain Week.\nMonday\, September 9th\nTHE FUTURE OF ENERGY\nThe premiere day of Blockchain Week is focused on how blockchain technology has the power to create efficiencies\, streamline operations\, and cut costs in Alberta’s most important industry: Energy. \nEvents: \n9:00 – 17:00 – IQ Management – BUY TICKETS HERE\nLocation: Hyatt Calgary \nTickets for this event sold separately \nBITS\, BYTES\, AND BARRELS STRATEGIES ON DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN THE ENERGY SECTOR \nThe biggest challenge oil and gas companies face in addressing digital changes in the industry is equipping their people with a common base of understanding of digital. Without a common base of definitions\, terminology\, and frameworks\, organizations run the risk that their digital agenda will be defined by specific vendors which can have unintended consequences. Suppliers of technology\, IT professionals\, universities and consultants all use variants of their own proprietary approaches to digital that\, well-intentioned\, can create poor transparency\, bias and prejudice. Without a common base\, teams drift into silos\, management blocks innovation and Boards cannot execute their oversight role. \nTBD GuildOne\nTuesday\, September 10th\nBUILDING BLOCKS\nHow do we create the foundations for widespread knowledge of blockchain technologies relevance\, and make sure that everyone\, not just industry\, benefits from the technology? SUMMARY:Blockchain AML Compliance in Canada - Postponed to September 2019
DESCRIPTION:This Event has been postponed to September 2019  Watch for new dates soon! \nThe Alberta Blockchain Consortium is a non profit corporation aimed at promoting and uniting the blockchain industry within our province. Our events are open to the public and all are welcome. We wish to educate and create an inclusive environment for networking\, business development\, and cross sector collaboration. \nOur Edmonton meet ups are every last Thursday of the month. We provide food\, wine\, non alcoholic beverages and conversation about blockchain. We prefer to engage our speakers in an interview\, panel\, or debate instead of having presentations. \nThis month’s topic: \nThe rules for crypto companies in Canada are changing. Last year\, changes to Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations were published. Once made final\, these regulations will apply to “dealers in virtual currency” (including exchanges\, brokerages\, and BTM operators). Learn about what this will mean for Canadian businesses with the AML geeks from Outlier Compliance Group.
