A member of ATCO’s Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence\, William also serves as Director of the Electric Vehicle Association of Alberta. \nFuture of Mobility \nYeatland Wong P.Eng. \nYeatland Wong is the Senior Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer at Stantec Consulting. Yeatland has nearly 2 decades of experience in transportation engineering\, and is an expert in smart mobility and new transportation technologies. Prior to joining Stantec Consulting\, Yeatland was the Senior ITS Engineer for City of Calgary\, and was program manager for the City’s ITS Program. Yeatland is also an Executive for the Intelligent Transportation Systems Society of Canada. \nFuture of Food \nDr. Stan Blade\, Ph.D. Blade is Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural\, Life and Environmental Sciences (ALES) University of Alberta. Dr. Blade is a 2012 graduate of the Wharton Business School’s Executive Development Program (University of Pennsylvania) and his Ph.D. from Macdonald College of McGill University for plant breeding/cropping systems research completed at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). He currently serves as a Trustee of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture\, a board member of the Alberta Cancer Foundation\, Edmonton Global\, Livestock Gentec and the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute. In 2018 Dr. Blade was elected as an International Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. Deeply interested in finding new ways to enhance wellbeing\, housing affordability\, spatial functionality and reducing people’s carbon footprints\, Tim developed the Micro Habitation Lab (mHabLab) in 2016. Investigating evolving generational concepts of how “home” is expressed through the use and display of objects and spaces\, Tim and his team are developing and testing architecturally interactive micro living spaces as a way to increase the emotional durability of places and spaces. Since the early 90s Tim’s research and practice has explored topics such as: Morphing/shape-shifting materials and products; new Business Models for the trillion dollar Creative Economy; and some of his design collaborations have included work with design icons like Renny Ramakers (Droog)\, and architect Winy Maas (MVRDV\, and TU Delft/The Why Factory).

DESCRIPTION:Edmonton’s NextGen is excited to present Lunch MEAET – a micro-funding event that showcases local initiatives – with a scrumptious lunch twist on Saturday\, February 23!\nOver lunch\, you will hear pitches from local independent projects\, initiaves\, and businesses that have a mental health or wellness component. Listen to the pitches and get to know the presenters\, then vote on your favourite one. Votes will be tallied and $10 of your ticket price will go to the winning pitch; helping their project succeed in the community. \nWant to pitch your project\, initiative or business at our Lunch MEAET event?\nFill out this online form! applications will be accepted until Sunday\, February 3rd. Your project or idea needs to have a wellness or mental health component to be considered as a pitch for the event. \nThe lunch portion of the event will involve a catered lunch. We’ll also provide mental health and wellness self-care activities\, including: \n\nTherapy animals from @CAAWLS (Chimo Animal Assisted Wellness and Learning Society)\nFamily friendly activities – ring toss\, bullseye\, colouring and more\nTea samples from @David’s Tea\nMore to be announced soon!\n\n\nEvent Schedule\n12pm | Doors Open \n12-1pm | Enjoy food + activities on-site! \n1-1:45pm | Pitches – stay tuned for an announcement in February! \n1:45pm-2:15pm | Voting commences \n2:15-2:30pm | Winner announced + wrap up \n\nFAQs \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nThere is paid underground parking available in the building.
