SUMMARY:Innovation Challenge Information/Ideation Session #1
DESCRIPTION:Description\n\n\n\nPizza and refreshments being served \nThe Innovation Challenge is open to all NAIT Students. \nInterested in the Innovation Challenge? Not even sure what is involved? \nCome to this information/ideation event to learn more about the challenge\, what’s up with it and what’s in it for you! \nIf you have at least one friend and a smart phone that can take amateur video\, you can put your creativity to work in NAIT’s Innovation Challenge presented by Raptor Mining\, compete for prize money\, and have a lot of fun doing it! \nTeams are tasked with taking an everyday object that’s not worth much and transforming it into something of greater value—whether that value is economic\, environmental\, or social. So your idea could potentially turn into a lucrative commercial enterprise\, or a way to solve a significant social problem! \nThe Challenge gives students the opportunity to experience some of the creativity associated with being an entrepreneur\, collaborate under time and resource constraints\, and pitch an idea in an engaging way. \nHow does it work? Teams that register by March 9th at noon will receive a message on March 11th\, letting them know the object or concept they will be working with. Then they’ll have just a few days—until March 20th at 11:59 PM—to submit a three-minute video (MP4) pitching their innovation idea. Finalist videos will be shown and prizes awarded at a celebration event and video screening on March 26th at 4:00 PM where you will be treated like Hollywood royalty. \n\nThis event and competition open to current NAIT students only \nLocation\n\nNAIT CAT Building CAT 419 \n10304-10524 117A Avenue Northwest \nEdmonton\, AB T5G \nView Map

SUMMARY:Understand Bitcoin Fundamentals\, & Foundations of What Blockchain Can & Can’t Do
DESCRIPTION:Bitcoin is a complex and confusing topic\, which calls into question the very idea of what money is and how it functions. If you are curious about Bitcoin and blockchain technology but have been too intimidated to dive in because of the excessive amount of information available\, this presentation is for you. Build a foundational knowledge of the problems that Bitcoin does (and doesn’t) solve\, and arm yourself with a healthy skeptical mind to avoid falling prey to the pitfalls of blockchain hype and buzzwords. \nAbout the Speaker: \nBen Perrin is host of the BTC Sessions – Canada’s most popular educational YouTube channel on Bitcoin. Since 2016 Ben has amassed a following of 30\,000 subscribers and over 2.5 million views across all his content. He has been featured locally on CTV and Global\, as well as numerous industry podcasts/publications like Crush The Street\, Bloxlive TV and more. When he’s not creating content for his YouTube channel\, or hosting educational workshops like this\, Ben spends his time working as marketing director for Canada’s Bitcoin company – \nBull Bitcoin.
