Jillene, manufacturing building components for residential and commercial projects will undergo a major transformation, driven by the need for higher energy efficiency and the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation.  The industry faces significant hurdles in integrating these technologies while managing a widening skills gap, as many manufacturers still rely on manual processes.

You’re working on new materials technology with Corning Glass, and exploring ways to improve operational efficiencies in the manufacturing process for windows, glazing and doors in residential and commercial markets.

Question 1

What challenges and opportunities do you see in adopting Human-Machine Collaboration in the All Weather Group?

Experts emphasize that AI should be viewed as a “tireless assistant” rather than a total replacement. AI can handle repetitive tasks (e.g., cutting, sealing, data entry), allowing human workers to focus on quality control, custom assembly, and complex decision-making.

Question 2

What are your thoughts on the Need for “Hybrid” Workers and pre-hire upskilling to help frontline workers to enter and advance in manufacturing?

The modern manufacturing worker needs a blend of traditional tradecraft, technological literacy, and “soft skills” like independent problem-solving and collaboration with machines.
